Davis Middle School
Musicians of all ages and abilities, from young beginners to adults and teachers, are encouraged to participate.
The 2017 Festival will include Piano, Band, and Strings Divisions.
The Vocal Division is not active this year.
2017 Professional Concerts – Initial registration includes admission to one professional concert.
Sponsorship and Donation Information – The Young Musicians Festival relies on the generous donations of sponsors and other individuals.
Solo and Small Ensemble Performances – All performances are evaluated by our visiting clinicians and are open to the public. All styles of music are welcome, and memorization is strongly recommended. Music selections must be school appropriate. All performers will receive a certificate, a ribbon and written comments.
Competition – First, second, and third place ribbons will be awarded in each performance Bracket in each Division. Scholarships to MAT Camp (July 10-14, 2017) will be awarded to the three overall highest scoring participants in each Division. All decisions are final. Participants can opt out of the competition if they wish.
Honors Concert – Some outstanding performers of all ages will be selected to perform in the Saturday evening Honors Concert on April 15th at 6:30 p.m. Selection to the Honors Concert is based purely on subjective recommendations of the judges as they look at a performer’s “total performance package,” and it is not a part of the competition.
Registration – Initial Festival registration fee for solo and ensemble performances is $10. Included are your performance, evaluation by the clinician, workshops on April 15th, and admission to one professional concert. Registration for additional performance events is $5.00 each. Registration deadline is April 1, 2017. Financial aid is available. Contact Sara at 789-2178 or YoungMusFes [at] gmail.com.
